Seminar Series
Our seminar series is one of the critical pillars of CU Café. We believe that providing trainees with the agency to invite speakers allows us to be agents of change in our own department. Underrepresented groups must support one another, and CU Café believes the best way to do this is to amplify each other's voices! This is the main goal of the CU Café seminar series - to amplify the voices of underrepresented individuals and help our trainees build influential professional networks.
The seminar series aims to invite speakers from any STEM-related field with a passion for equity and inclusion. CU Café members can interact with scholars who have a strong academic reputation and commitment to STEM diversity, community building, and mentorship. Our invited keynote speaker gives two presentations: a formal academic/scientific talk on a subject of their choice and an informal career development talk that focuses on aiding our trainees in advancing their careers. The speaker also has the opportunity to bring a mentee/intern of their choice for their visit to CU Boulder. CU Café collaborates with several STEM departments to fund the keynote speaker’s traveling and lodging expenses.
