What We Do
CU Cafe has 3 main types of activities that we organize:
- A seminar series hosting distinguished faculty of color from all over the country
- Professional development activities aimed at building transferable skills and preparing early career STEM scholars for success
- Community-building activities aimed at bringing together diverse students and postdocs to share experiences and network with each other
Seminar Series
The seminar series invites speakers from underrepresented groups nominated by CU Café members! Our aim is to help our members build a collaborative nationwide network (and even internationally). We prioritize CU Café member engagement with innovative researchers with a passion for STEM diversity, community building, and mentorship. Our invited keynote speakers generally give two presentations: a formal academic/scientific talk on a subject of their choice and an informal career development talk that focuses on aiding our graduate students and postdocs in advancing their careers. The speaker also has the opportunity to bring a mentee/intern of their choice for their visit to CU Boulder. CU Café is always open to collaborations with STEM departments at CU to fund the keynote speaker’s traveling and lodging expenses.
See our Seminar Series page for more details, including how to invite a speaker!
